Wow, what a weekend. Friday was low-key movie night with Darrell and Scott at Patrick’s house, which was fun. We watched Pi, which I liked but didn’t love like I did Requiem.
Patrick and I are having a really great relationship week, which isn’t to say other weeks haven’t been great, lately it’s just been even more fun. Is it surprising that month 20 warranted increased compatibility? I guess it’s not surprising; it’s just nice, despite the occasional frustrations and personality annoyances, to be so in love. Still.
Saturday, however, was less fun. The plan was for me to make an appearance at a going-away party for someone at work, then go to Megan’s party with Darrell and Scott, the three of us go to another friend’s party, then head out to the club.
After the less-than-exciting work thing, I went to Darrell’s and he and I got a little tipsy (okay, damn near drunk) and piled into Scott’s car (who was sober) to go to Megan’s. Her place was fun, though a little empty and totally hetero, and while Scott was drinking wine in one corner, Darrell was apparently drinking a shitload more in the other. I was sitting on the sofa with two girls, whom I’ll call Anna and Laura, just coherent enough to know that the conversation was ending up kinda fun. The end of it:
Me: Anna, have you ever kissed another girl?
Anna: No.
Laura: I have! Anna, you can kiss me, then you will have too.
Anna: Hmmm… no.
Laura: (very sad face) No one wants to kiss me.
Me: I’ll kiss you. (God only knows what I was thinking!)
Laura: Okay!
So I give her an absolutely tiny peck, barely touching her lips.
Let it be known that Laura has a boyfriend. Let it also be known that her boyfriend is reasonably attractive, despite tattoos and gauged ears. I am a little intimidated by boyfriend, despite his rather small size.
So, after the quick kiss, I get up from the sofa and go back to the kitchen, passing Darrell. He is, unbeknownst to me at the time, probably on his 12th shot or so. I’m leaning on a pillar in the kitchen to keep from falling over when Laura’s boyfriend walks up to me.
Boyfriend: Hey, you kissed my girlfriend.
Me, nervous: Uh … yeah.
Boyfriend: Well, that’s not right. (He moves closer and I get really nervous.)
Me: Well, I… just… it’s…
Scary Boyfriend: It’s just not right that she gets to kiss you and I don’t.
Stunned Me: Wha???
Strange Boyfriend: Now that she’s kissed you, I get to too.
Drunk Me: Uhh… okay.
Slutty boyfriend then leans in and plants one on me… and then stays there, just kinda hanging out, like it’s not weird for a self-proclaimed straight boy to casually be at parties with his tongue in a strange gay man’s mouth.
I pushed him away and went to find Megan.
Me: Megan, a straight boy just kissed me.
Megan: Really? Who?
Me: Laura’s boyfriend.
Megan: Ohhhh, Todd. Yeah, he’s like that.
Me: Like that?
Megan: Yeah, he just does stuff like that. Don’t worry, he’s harmless, and not at all interested. He’s straight.
Oooookay. To avoid further boring line-by-line conversations, I’ll just paraphrase that Todd apparently just does whatever, for the hell of it. I did see him later that night and he raised his eyebrows and licked his lips at me. I’m still thoroughly confused.
I also feel a little guilty about the situation, since it’s not really like me at all, and I worried what Patrick would say. I told him this morning what happened, and he just laughed and said not to worry about it, but he did say he was glad I felt bad. So, I’m relieved, though I kind of feel like an ass for getting that drunk. But I guess we all have ‘em sometimes, and it’s been a while for me!
Anyway, after Megan’s we went to the other party where Darrell and I laughed a lot and only fell down twice. Did I mention I feel like an ass this morning? After only about half an hour there, Darrell started to feel sick (surprise!) so I got Scott and we took him home. I was sobering up by then and, unlike last time this happened (November I think), I did not have to crawl from the car to the door, so that was a bonus.
When we got inside, Darrell went to the bathroom and spent the next hour and a half there. Scott and I pumped him full of water, but he was miserable all the same. He passed out a couple times and I had to hold his head up so he wouldn’t drown in the toilet water. It was not a fun time. Eventually, we got him in bed after we checked that his breathing and pulse were normal. Scott stayed with him a few more hours and I went back to Megan’s to help clean up.
And no, I did not help “clean up” Todd!
