So this is where I’ve been for the last five days. Migrating to Movable Type and my own domain.

Overall, this whole thing was relatively painless, except importing the comments, which was a complete and total pain in the ass. MT just isn’t set up to import from BackBlog, which, by the way, is a great little service. But it’s finally done!

I briefly toyed with using WordPress instead of jumping on the Movable Type bandwagon, but so far I’m happy with it. I may try WordPress in a few months, just to see.

I’m also not sure about this design. It’s all about CSS because I’m pretty much a PhotoShop idiot now. I haven’t used PS in nearly eight years (and countless versions ago), so I stayed away from anything graphically fancy. Given those limitations, I’m reasonably happy with the way this turned out. We’ll see how long I leave it alone.

It may be time to re-learn some of those old programs, though. Let me know what you think…
