The folks over at Bloghosts, my hosting provider, have just named Zionide a site of the month for March.
They say:
A fairly new member of our community, Zionide is a well-written journal that comes to us from Nick in Salt Lake City. Deeply personal and honest, Zionide adds something a bit different to the mix.
Isn’t that nice of them?
I’m really suprised, actually, since I’ve only been at bloghosts for two weeks. It’s a nice compliment that someone over there decided in that short time to call my ramblings “well-written.”
I was initially perplexed by the “a bit different” part, because I genuinely think I sound just like every other gay boy blogger out there, save the fact I’m stuck here in Zion—which I suppose is an interesting juxtaposition. But Patrick pointed out that perhaps bloghosts doesn’t have many gay bloggers on its client list. A quick perusal of sites on their “recently updated” list seems to hint at that, since very few of the sites have any reference at all to gay people, save a couple frighteningly conservative posts about gay marriage.
I have no idea if that is at all representative of the rest of their clients, but if being gay is indeed what makes me add something “a bit different to the mix,” then I’m thrilled to be different.
For a while I thought there were more gay bloggers out there, but I realized quickly that was just my skewed perspective based on whom I choose to read frequently. I’ve since run across just as many scary conservatives hell-bent on making me a second-class citizen just because of how I use my penis.
Does anybody know of any stats about numbers of gay bloggers vs. numbers of straight bloggers? Are there stats on blogging at all? Like everything else online, it seems to me it would be pretty tough to ever get accurate demographic information.

It’s not HOW you want to use your penis (in, out, in, out, seems pretty generic), nor WHERE you want to use it (my guess is cavemen mastered the art of anal sex). It’s that you want to use it AT ALL without the intent of overpopulating the world like bacteria.
