In cleaning out some old files, I stumbled across this article from May 2002 that I’d saved because I was struck by its quiet hopefulness.

[W]e’ve had plenty of time to reflect on what it means to be a gay couple who consider themselves married in a society that doesn’t necessarily see it that way. For one thing, we’ve had to accept that we’re still a cultural oddity…

I love it even more now that we can look back nearly two years and see how far we’ve come, though there’s still quite a journey ahead.
