I should have known that a state in the South would keep Utah from being seen as the most hateful in the nation:

Rhea County (TN) Officials Seek Change in Law to Ban Gays

Rhea County commissioners unanimously voted to ask state lawmakers to introduce legislation amending Tennessee’s criminal code so the county can charge homosexuals with crimes against nature.

“We need to keep them out of here,” said Commissioner J.C. Fugate, who introduced the motion.

The state that held the Scopes trial? The state that once tried to have pi legally declared 3.0 so it would conform to the Bible?

Tennessee has long been the home of activist backwardness and fundamentalism.

Hey, I found the same article and noted it to be horrible. But don’t blame the whole south. It really isn’t like that everywhere here.

No, it’s not until you get people to open up and talk about it, then it is. Basically when everyone is minding their own business it’s okay. I’m sure we’d see more of these tactics if there was any chance they could pass.

Though, the recent hoopla surrounding marriage isn’t sparking the debate I’d like to see. Is homosexuality protected under the constitution? I think it’s a fair and interesting question.

P.S: Sorry for the second comment!

I, too, saw that article. Yet another good reason to never go to Tennessee. Locking up people for who they love is just deplorable.
