I’m kind of sick of this whole Rhea County, Tennessee thing, but I’ve got one more article, this time from the Tennessee press, all because of the following exchange:

Mrs. Griffin said she did not believe there are any gays living in Rhea County. She said, “Anyone I ever suspect, I go up and ask them directly.” She said anyone she had asked had denied it.

But Daniel Shipley said he lives in Graysville near the Hamilton County line and is “gay and proud of it.”

He walked up to June Griffin and said, “Honey, I’m gay and I want you to know I’m dressed as good as you.”

Of course Daniel’s gay. He’s focused on fashion and says “honey.”

Personally, I’d never brag about being dressed “as good as” a Christian activist from rural Tennessee. Maybe it’s because I don’t look good in polyester housedresses. But I think it’s more because pregnant and barefoot just isn’t my style.

Oh I just wish someone like that would ask me. Now that would be a scene to behold.
