The silence was a combination of things. Aside from the crazy new job and schedule, I was also overwhelmed with all I had to say, so I was procrastinating in an area of my life where I safely can.

Not that I don’t love you.

I even have a half-dozen half-written posts waiting to be completed.

But now I’m just too depressed to finish them. In addition to the Kerry sadness, Utah, along with 11 other states, passed its anti-gay-marriage, anti-civil-union amendment by 66%.

*sigh*

Among all the great things I read today reflecting on the election, one cheered me up so much that I had to break the silence to share it.

Enjoy.

I’ll be back soon - I promise.

Well, I voted against it. What surprised me is that the email from Equality Utah mentioned nothing about fighting it to the death… Now I’m even sadder at the defeat.

Why do people keep saying this election was about “values?” Since when was it okay to profess hate as a value? I feel so completely estranged from my own country. Let’s all hideout for four years and eat cheesecake, like some Bizarro Golden Girls.

What is most offensive, really, is the implication that to have “values” and be “moral” is to vote Republican/conservative. So, what, all those who voted for Kerry (i.e. HALF OF US) are amoral.

Exit polling showed that many voters made their decision based on the “values” issue. With everything going on in the world today, those really were distraction issues used to garner votes.

We are not estranged from our country. Remember that Bush won by only 3 million votes! Half of your countrymen are with you.

yeah, he didn’t win by that many votes. and oklahoma voted to prevent gay marriage by an over 70% majority. yes, i live in a truly red state. i keep reminding myself that the next president will probably be democrat. that’s how things work. hopefully she will straighten this shit out.

Being my first time voting I took everything very seriously and got very involved in the fight against ammendment 3. My best friend and I had an all chocolate night just to cheer ourselves up over the loss. Yes, I am LDS but sometimes I wish people would look more carefully at the issues…
