This month marks my two year blogging anniversary.

What can I say? I was late to catch on.

Patrick started blogging nine months later, in October 2003. He didn’t even know I was blogging until I’d been doing it for almost six months. And how he found out is kinda funny, and further confirms that this really is a small world.

We were in the middle of a month-long separation that I’d initiated. You can go back and read May/June 2003 if you’re really that interested, but suffice to say that after two years I was questioning our relationship and the separation was a good thing. It just confirmed, I think for both of us, that we wanted to be together.

Anyway, I had just barely popped up on a few other bloggers’ radar screens, thanks mostly to the Nate Berkus Obsession™. No one had really linked to me yet, but they were aware I was around, watching, I think, to see if I was worth a link.

Now, this part of the story is just my understanding of what happened. It may be a little off.

Patrick was out Googling for some hot guy, I think Colin Farrell, and he stumbled on Kris’ blog, which mentioned Colin somewhere (surprise!). Patrick liked what he read and dropped a note to Kris. Within the course of their brief correspondence, Patrick mentioned that he was in Salt Lake City, and Kris replied with something along the lines of, “Oh, really? I just started reading the blog of a guy in Salt Lake City” and sent Patrick the URL.

Patrick wasted no time emailing me saying, “What the hell is this?!” and we went the rounds. Of course, it was really more about the breakup than the blogging, even if the words were all about the blogging.

Regardless, I came to my senses quickly and the separation was over two weeks later.

And there you have it. How I was blog-outed to my boyfriend.
