So it occurred to me today that I have the space, bandwidth, and tools available to very easily host a message board.
Given the number of people expressing interest in having a centralized location to share new information on Nate and/or Fernando, would it be worth it to you guys if I set up a Nate information message board?
I don’t want to infringe on Nate’s right to privacy, or beat this discussion to death. Plus, I’m wary of it being too late in the game to be that useful, and I also don’t really want to become the “Nate Blog” because I already worry I’ve become one-note with too many of my recent posts being about the disaster. Not that it’s not timely, but I don’t do this just to talk about Nate and I started to fall into that trap.
Anyway, it’s really just a few clicks to do, though, so I’m happy to do it if enough people will find it useful without it being inappropriate - whatever that may end up meaning.
Let me know your thoughts, either through email or comment below.

Yes. For sure.

That does make me worry even more, but I really don’t think any of us want to pry or anything. We just want to pass along information that Nate/Oprah/whomever has officially released or information that has been reported in the media, for those who may not have caught from the source.
And there’s nothing wrong with sharing your personal opinions or experiences when they relate to that publicly available information. As long as we stick with that, I have no problems.

Yes!! Thank you! I found this site looking for more info on Nate/Fernando. I would love to share whatever news we all hear about.
Their relationship seemed so lovely…we should all be so lucky.
And Nick, I’ve enjoyed reading your other posts, too.

This is new:
“I grieve for the loss of my partner Fernando Bengoechea, as well as all those missing, displaced and deceased.
I continue to turn to those close to me, and Fernando, to grieve and heal, and I ask that you allow us the privacy we require to mourn our loss.”
I’m sure this is meant more to address various paparazzi types than folks innocently and unobtrusively curious to know how he is, but I couldn’t help but feel a bit ashamed.

Go for it. I know I get a ton of hits on the topic at my site, so the interest is there.

Yes please! I would like to keep myself updated on the latest news of Nate/Fernando. I think many of his fans would love that since it’s pretty hard obtaining news on Nate since many sites are updated by fans etc and the blog was taken down by an unknown reason. Anyway, it would be so cool if you set up a message board for Nate/Fernando. I’ll be the first to join!

Yes, I would like that Nick. I’ve always been a Nate fan. I don’t think people here want to engage in sordid gossip…we’re just fans! And now I’m also a Fernando fan…such talent and creativity. A citizen of the world…so tragic.
Thanks Nick.

King World’s Oprah Winfrey Show garnered a 10.7/22 overnight household rating for Monday’s show….

Like OMG! I saw the article.
Here it is.
ONE MAN’S TRAGEDY IS ANOTHER BILLIONAIRESS’ RATINGS BONANZA…
TSUNAMI victim Nate Berkus last Monday gave “Oprah” its biggest audience of the season ?larger than even the day Oprah Winfrey gave her entire audience new cars.
According to early Nielsen estimates, “Oprah” drew over 15 million viewers.
Berkus, a Chicago-based interior designer who has been a regular on “Oprah,” was vacationing with a friend, photographer Fernando Bengoechea, at a Sri Lankan resort when the tsunami struck. Bengoechea is missing and is presumed dead.
The show with Berkus had been anticipated almost from the moment that the designer began giving first-hand reports from the tsunami scene for CNN.
Show officials were coy about when ?or even if ?they’d do a show about Berkus. But an “Oprah” producer was dispatched to Sri Lanka within about a week of the disaster to gather material

A 22 share IS a big number, even for Oprah. Too bad it doesn’t count for anything since it’s not a Nielsen period.
I bet any follow-up shows will be during February or May ratings!
January 21, 2005 at 5:31 pm
Yeah, I was thinking tonight there ought to be a follow-up show. I don’t think, though, that Oprah would have postponed the show until the sweeps. She knew, or her producer, Ellen, knew that the show must go on as soon as Nate was able to do it. The follow up may be another story, but I’m guessing we’ll seen one, maybe in 6 mos. or a year. Just my opinion…

With the ratings that Nate is attracting, i’m pretty sure if he has his own show, it will be very popular and many people will see it. But before that, let’s hope he’ll get over from the sadness first.

Be The First!!!! might as well, rumour has it
“Trading Spaces” host Paige Davis and interior designer Nate Berkus will be the focus of the latest “Oprah Winfrey Show” spin-off (a la “Dr. Phil”). The project, which is being targeted for a fall 2006 premiere, would feature the pair in an unspecified format. King World/Paramount Domestic Television’s Terry Wood is understood to be spearheading the project.

Just so you know, Nate Berkus will be on Oprah on Monday (probably some stuff you didnt see last time) including (what we’ve been hearing) a report from Ricky Martin.
