I got new glasses today. I lost my other pair in October and never replaced them. It wasn’t a big deal because I’d had that pair for nine years; it was time for something new. Even though I’ve had glasses for just over ten years, I only wore them once or twice a week at the most, usually when the outfit called for it. :)

This new prescription is a little bit stronger than the previous, which was pretty minor. The new one is still not severe enough that I’m required to wear lenses to drive, but it’s strong enough that I was surprised to see the difference when I put them on. That’d never happened before.

Given the new strength, I’m committed to wearing my glasses regularly this time. I shopped for frames for weeks - I’m picky as hell, as Patrick will testify - and finally found a pair I really liked. The finished product is a bit more bold than I thought it would be - some would call it “fashion-forward” - so I’m a little worried that I can’t quite pull off the look. I mean … they’re black and a strange green/gold color. And they’ve got a retro-ish, nerdy kind of shape. And they’re on my FACE for God’s sake!

But most of the very few people who’ve seen them on me have said they like them, though who knows how honest an opinion that is. My mother said they looked better on me than she thought they would, based on how they look just sitting there. I think that’s a good thing. I hope.

Oh, well. I think I like them. In a few days I’ll make up my mind and know for sure.

Regardless of the frames though, I am finally seeing clearly now.

And given Monday’s post, you know I don’t mean that in reference to just my eyes, either.

Yup, unlike a bad haircut, a new pair of glasses won’t simply grow back. They will grow on you tho.
