Yeah.
So.
Didn’t get a second interview for that job.
Oh well.
Hibernating for the last several days, both blog-wise and in real life, because I’m a little down about the whole thing. It’s to be expected and really pretty mild, so I’m not worried. Plus, sleeping 10-12 hours a night has been heaven.
Sam is the reason I’m gracing you with my presence tonight. He tagged me recently for a relationship-status meme and I’m overdue in answering it…
If we are single or in a monogamous relationship?
Monogamous relationship with Patrick. And don’t forget that the two of us are long-distance gay polygamists with similarly-monogamous couple David and Chris, more commonly known at Zionide as the North Carolina boys.
How long we have been with our partner/significant other/boy/girlfriend?
Patrick and I met in April 2001 and started dating exclusively in July of that year. July 3, to be exact. For you victims of new math, that means we’ve been together four years, one month and one day.
How we met?
Oh, god. Haven’t I told this story somewhere on this blog already? No? Oh, alright:
I dated my first boyfriend, Tim, throughout the summer of 2000. I was 19, about to start my junior year of college, and he was 17, about to start his senior year … of high school. Yeah, I know. Anyway, all summer he kept talking about one of his friends I had to meet, how cool he was, how fun he was, how smart he was, blah blah blah on and on. This friend was spending the summer in Germany though, so I couldn’t meet him right away.
Every time Tim talked about this amazing friend, I got a little jealous because - clearly - Tim had a thing for him. Fast-forward to the end of the summer: Amazing friend comes home from Germany. Tim unceremoniously dumps my ass to date amazing friend. I’m crushed. Fortunately, amazing friend has no idea of Tim’s intentions and is not interested when he learns of them. I say fortunately not because Tim came back to me (thank God), but because amazing friend was - you guessed it - Patrick. The details of how it all came to be, from August 2000 when Tim dumped me to April 2001 when Patrick and I met, aren’t really important. You already know the good part of the story. The only thing notable about those in-between months is my INS-halted intense five-month fling with second boyfriend, Lio.
Oh, and by the way, Tim was completely right about Patrick’s amazing-ness. Too bad for Tim.

What we like to do together?
We watch TiVo together. We eat together. We visit his parents together. Everything, really. It might be because we don’t live together, though we see each other pretty much every day. Truth is, I like Patrick around no matter what I’m doing, and he seems to feel the same way. Everything he wants to do, I’m usually game for - with the notable exception of concerts by musical artists he likes. I’m just not up for screaming angry white boys who have no reason to be angry. Patrick, on the other hand, isn’t always that interested in what I want to do, but he’s laid-back enough and loves me enough to come anyway.
No matter what we’ve been doing though, I always miss him within minutes of his leaving.

The way you met Patrick sounds like some gay novel. Let me check the sleaze section…

Sad. Am I really that disinterested in what you want to do?
