Sometime last week, my Nate Berkus message board was hacked and replaced with an alternate page. I’m not going to mention the group specifically, as the attention is exactly what they want, but in my pitiful attempts to repair the board, I just screwed it up even more.

I should have waited for my super-smart boyfriend to come fix it. He could have done it pretty easily, I’m sure, as the hackers were far from sophisticated. But no, I had to try to be PHP and MySQL independent. Serves me right. I’m a PHP novice and I barely even know what MySQL is.

Anyway, the board is down, possibly permanently. When Patrick has time I’ll beg him to look at it and see what he can do, if anything.

I was initially really surprised that I was hacked - the board wasn’t really popular enough to warrant the attention of hackers - but I’ve since learned that the version of board software I was using had a known security problem. I was a few weeks behind in updating to the most current version of the software and the hackers took advantage of that. Again, it serves me right for not being current.

Big apologies to those folks who visited the board regularly - espcially Anne, the board’s unofficial moderator. I hope your posts and images are not forever gone. Cross your fingers that Patrick can work his magic.
